Information
Transformers are rated in volt-amps (VA). It defines the limit of the magnetizing field inside the transformer. If this limit is exceeded, the transformer goes into saturation and ceases to function properly. This is especially important when the transformer has more than one secondary winding.
To determine the required transformer VA, multiply the secondary voltage by the required amperes:
For example, VA=Volts x Amperes or 24V x 1.04 amperes = 24.96 VA.
To determine the maximum transformer current, divide the transformer VA by transformer secondary voltage.
For example, A=VA / Volts or 25 VA / 24 Volts = 1.04 A.
