The LoRaWAN Data Transmission Terminal is a universal communication interactive equipment that is designed and manufactured based on LoRa RF chip.
It integrates two interfaces of industrial standard RS485 and supports a variety of protocols to realise the data transmission between wired and wireless devices.
It supports LoRaWAN Class C protocol. It can be widely applied in the IoT, centralised metering and industrial control etc.

Description

About the Product:

THE 868MHZ UNITS ARE FOR LORA GATEWAY CONNECTIONS ONLY, YOU NEED A LORA WAN GATEWAY TO USE THE 868MHZ MODULES.

If using for Solar and modbus meters, you need the LoRa Wireless RS485 transmitter and receiver with LCD screen – 2 Units – NOT THIS

LoRa data transmission terminals universal communication interface equipment.
Allows for wireless transmission of RS485 data, cutting out the need for running long cables in complex installs.

The default factory setting is channel 0(433.175MHz), a total of 8 channels from 433.175-434.575MHz.
You can also read the default setting via the configuration software (download link below) –Operation-“Read”.
or you can set other RF settings according to your application, then click “Write”.

Includes a pair of communicators (transmitter and receiver).

Note: If more than one LoRa transmitter/receiver set is being used on site then they will need to operate on different communication channels.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS CONNECT THE ANTENNA BEFORE POWERING UP THE TRANSMITTER OR RECEIVER

Key features:

    • Small, easy to install
    • Operating temperature range: -20 to 70 oC
    • 2 standard interfaces of RS485, supporting a variety of protocols and communicating with various automatic devices with RS485 interfaces
    • Equipped LoRa chips SX1276 from Semtech for RF part
    • Supporting LoRaWAN Class C protocol
    • Band: 865/868/915/9263Mhz
    • Wireless ultra-long transmission range with up to 6-8 km barrier-free

Mostly used in metering projects where cabling is expensive or not possible. This module helps integrate remote Modbus meters.

What’s the difference between 433MHz and 868MHz?

Both bands belong to free-license ISM bands.
433MHz frequency band has been widely used in almost many control applications, while 868MHz is exclusively reserved for communication between wireless sensor networks.
Since many wireless products utilize the 433MHz band, which can lead to interference/disturbance of communication between different products.
868MHz band is exclusively opened for wireless systems, it’s less likely to be interfered with and used with a LoRa Wan gateway only.
433MHz band is used for solar electrical meters to the solar inverter without running a cable.

433MHz and 868MHz, which is better?

In terms of transmission distance, generally, signals with longer wavelengths travel a greater distance and penetrate through, and around objects better than signals with shorter wavelengths.
Higher frequencies result in shorter wavelengths.
Technically 433 MHz can travel a greater distance than 868 MHz.
But 433 MHz and 868 MHz may have the same radio frequency (RF) transmission performance because there are many other factors that determined this performance.
